Farm Bill Deadlocks: Senate Democrats on the Senate Agriculture Committee opposed and blocked a Republican-led Farm Bill proposal over disagreements regarding changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), including proposed state-level cost-sharing mandates and work requirements, rather than direct opposition to farmer support. Democratic lawmakers and groups like the League of Conservation Voters argued the bill also included cuts to conservation and sustainability programs.
